Project Overview

Digitization is a growing market trend and e-commerce has experienced rapid growth, especially during the COVID-19 period. However, this has created a serious problem of waste caused by fast fashion, threatening long-term sustainable development. To solve this problem, our project focuses on promoting a new concept of future shopping centers in terms of recycling unwanted clothes.

Design Process

Market research + User Interview

Through market research and user interviews on the current state of online shopping and recycling practices, we found that recycling rates are low. At the same time, it is completely unable to keep up with the rapid growth of e-commerce, especially international shopping.

However, we're also seeing a new market trend for remakes. This would be a great way to encourage the concept of secondhand and educate recycling at the same time because both shares a few common values:

Creation

"Shopping online is too convenient for me. All I need is just a phone, I can do it anytime and anywhere."

With the goal of reducing the waste problem, we aim to create a sustainable cycle by bringing together artisans and the public to transform old clothes. Sustain solution retention by building business advantage. Therefore, we decided to adopt three design criteria: convenience, diversity, and sustainability.

Afterward, we brainstormed the following features of the app.

Testing

After completing the first mockup, we invited four target audiences to test functionality and overall application usage. However, we found that there were too many functions we wanted to cover, which made users feel lost. They have no way of knowing what the app is for and where to start their journey. So we started tinkering with features and whittled it down to just 3 main features.

On the other hand, we also confirmed our design criteria to be:
